Between Starlight and Clay
I am interested in courage, particularly how it is carried across generations through families, migrations, and shared stories. My paintings draw on my own diasporic heritage and experiences living between countries, exploring both the strength courage requires and the sacrifices it can demand.
Working with found images, family histories, historical references, and symbolic motifs, I create paintings that bring different times and places into conversation. I am fascinated by the ways inherited narratives shape who we become and how we navigate uncertainty.
The paintings develop slowly through layering, revision, and erasure. I begin with intuitive marks and allow the work to unfold through a process of discovery rather than control. What emerges is often a meeting point between memory and imagination, personal experience and collective history.
Ultimately, these works are reflections on what it means to move forward despite uncertainty, and on the courage that can be found in curiosity, vulnerability, and transformation.
